13. I partied so hard at Shiro the previous night that I woke up at 5pm. The booths were closed by then
14. Peddar Road is dug up. I would have to go all the way around Walkeshwar just to cast my vote
15. Hard Rock has IPL drink specials
16. I couldn't register myself as a voter because I was in Dubai for the shopping festival
17. I voted during Indian Idol. Does that count?
18. How can I be expected to enter the booth alone? Without my bodyguard?
19. There was no one representing the diamond merchants community
And lastly:
20. The cop at the election booth didn't let me skip the line. Even after I asked him, "Pata hai mera BAAP kaun hai?"

Sad isn't it? The least anyone could have done was TRY to register. I suppose many- sadly FOR the reasons listed, amusing as they are- wouldn't have done even that!

There was something I would like to hear your thoughts on. Dont you think it was a bit naive for Meera Sanyal to go for a Lok Sabha seat ? In particular this article (its title is scary for some), which talks about young female political leaders in interior India points out that they started at the local level, then state.
I think Sanyal would have had a better chance of winning a Vidhan Sabha seat. That would have also given her some experience while going up the political chain.
On another note, it would be interesting to see just how many of India's MPs have previous experience as legislators in their state assemblies.
This should be the next Lead India advertisement.
